Belonging Being Becoming

Our centre supports the national Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

We aim to extend and enrich the children’s learning from birth to five years by adopting the framework as part of our daily philosophy. We appreciate that from birth, children are connected to family, community, culture and place.

We set goals for the children to achieve high expectations through the following outcomes:

  1. Children heave a strong sense of identity;
  2. Children are connected with and contribute to our world;
  3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing;
  4. Children are confident and involved learners;
  5. Children are effective communicators.

In-line with the framework, we place specific emphasis on the importance of communication and language (including literacy and numeracy). We place importance on play-based learning and a strong support for social and emotional development.

We promote pro-social skills in our daily program, including using good manners, helping each other, sharing and turn-taking. We promote respect for our peers and the world around us. The development of positive self-esteem and confidence is encouraged as the children prepare to be active members in our community.

Centre Features

Community Involvement
We have developed a strong connection with our local community. Positive relations are maintained with surrounding primary schools, libraries, nursing homes and emergency services. Several charities are supported throughout the year, the most recent including Lifestart, Leukaemia Australia, Rotary Club and The Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Extra-curricular activities and Special days
Special events are an important part of our centre. Our annual calendar is full of experiences aimed to create a rich and stimulating learning program where they are challenged.
Inclusivity and anti-bias
We offer flexibility for families and children with special requirements, these may include:
  • Access to bi-lingual information
  • Access for family support services, such as family councilling, playgroups
  • Accommodation for children with food allergies/intolerances (we maintain strict policies regarding food handling and high-risk foods)
  • Flexibility in menu to allow for religious considerations and children’s preferences
  • Affiliations with Inclusion Support agencies to assist children with special needs or concerns

Preschool & School Readiness

“Children’s learning is dynamic, complex and holistic…Wellbeing and a strong sense of engagement enable children to develop a positive attitude to learning.” - EYLF

We offer excellence in pre-school programs via teacher-guided experiences, child-initiated projects, play-based learning, spontaneous activities, and extra-curricular events.

Excursions and incursions are also an important part of our program to extend on the children’s interests.

The curriculum is planned by experienced educators in accordance with the national Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), as well as adopting elements from project-based learning and an emergent curriculum.

The program is carefully documented for parents to view weekly. Individual portfolios are carefully prepared for each child (0-5 years) which demonstrate the child’s progress throughout the year.

Learning experiences are often organized into age-appropriate groups in recognition of the different needs of each child.
